PPL Flight Performance & Planning Malawi
Among other topics, we explore fuel planning, aerodromes, and; mass and balance computations to help the beginning pilot understand how to load the aircraft appropriately. We recommend that the student enrols in this course after completing all ground school courses except the Air Navigation module. Most importantly, we recommend taking the Air Navigation module with this one as some of the content is cross-cutting.
As indicated in the terms and conditions which you accepted before enrolling on this course; your online PPL Flight Performance & Planning ground school access lapses automatically after 45 days, and when you:
- graduate vis-à-vis you successfully complete a course and moves on to the next level.
- are suspended or chose to terminate your training with Eastrise Aviation.
- no longer hold a valid medical certificate.
- have an outstanding balance in your student account.
This course has videos, notes and interactive content. You are strictly prohibited from sharing your login details or access to the Eastrise Aviation online ground school with anyone. Multiple (concurrent) logins are also prohibited. Violations are prosecutable under local and international law.
By the end of this module, you would have acquired the theoretical knowledge that satisfies the Flight Performance & Planning component of the Malawi Private Pilot Licence curriculum. There are eight subjects covered in the PPL course and this is just one of them. Subjects include Principles of Flight, Flight Performance & Planning, Air Navigation, Aircraft Technical, Aviation Meteorology, Air Law, Radiotelephony, and Human Performance & Limitations. We have slightly changed some course titles to match our internal naming scheme. However, the content satisfies the Malawi PPL syllabus requirements.
You must have completed all the ground school modules (except the Air Navigation module) to enrol in this course. We recommend combining this module with the Air Navigation ground school course if possible. This is because the content is cross-cutting.

- You will need a working internet connection that will enable you to watch videos and interactive content
- A notepad and pen for note-taking
KEYS TASK(S) AND EXAMINATIONS
You will have a 50-question timed mock exam at the end of each module in this course. We have decided to introduce you to mock exams early in the course to ensure you get used to aviation exams. This will enable you to build confidence that would be handy during the knowledge tests at the Directorate of Civil Aviation. There are 50-60 timed questions in the actual exams (knowledge tests) at the civil aviation authority. We would also like to encourage you to login our Test Prep site after completing every course to enable you practice on our mock exams. The Eastrise test engine has thousands of questions from our question banks that we believe are helpful. You can also take the free mock exams on the go on our own Flytex Pilot Exams Android App. The app syncs with your TestPrep site account so your results, exams and history can be viewed on both portals. All this is at NO additional cost — just your online ground school subscription is enough.
