We have successfully completed lesson development work on the online flight school for the Private Pilot Licence course. This means that we now have both the online ground school and the online flight school. Perhaps you are wondering what the differences are. This blog post aims at answering your key questions regarding both online learning portals as well as our TestPrep site and Android App.
The Eastrise Online Ground School
Our online ground school contains lesson notes, videos, audio and interactive content to help the student learn the theoretical component of the various pilot licences and ratings offered by Eastrise Aviation. This is an interactive multimedia resource that students can access on the go, on their tablet or on the computer. You may from August 2019, also access our ground school on small screens (mobile phones) without losing quality. We have split the ground schools into two – one based on the Malawi Civil Aviation Authority curriculum and the other based on the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) curriculum Part 41 and Part 161. We have been in touch with the FAA and have had fruitful discussions which will allow Eastrise Aviation to offer FAA flight training and ground school courses in Malawi as a satellite center. This means that eligible students can now qualify for a US FAA pilot licence as well as the Malawi pilot licence right within Malawi.
The Eastrise Online Flying School
Our online flying school is a learning portal which covers the air exercises for the various pilot licences and ratings. Instead of bombarding the student with new concepts all at once, our online flying school systematically introduces the student to the flying exercises on the go and in the comfort of the student’s home. As the student gets on the aircraft with an instructor, they would have already developed a mental picture of what the upcoming lesson will entail. In a nutshell, when the student’s upcoming lesson is on engine starting, our online flying school lesson will entail rich multimedia (videos, audio as well as lesson notes) that explain the starting procedure and other elements that the student will learn. When it is time to get on the aircraft, the student would have already done some ‘armchair flying’ and thus will not find their training too difficult. The best news though is that subscription to the Eastrise Aviation online flight school is absolutely free to our fully paid students. This means that you just have to pay for the aircraft booking and you have a free online flying school subscription at no additional cost.
The Eastrise Online TestPrep Site
Learning from the ground school is a great step towards acquiring theoretical knowledge but is often not enough for the average student. The Eastrise TestPrep site is thus another tool that helps the student to prepare for the knowledge tests administered by the Directorate of Civil Aviation by taking mock exams shuffled from over 20 question banks and thousands of questions and answers. Learning to fly is a huge commitment both financially and mentally. We want our students to pass at the first attempt to help them save both money and time. By providing free access to the TestPrep site and Android app, we believe that we will fully prepare our students for the knowledge tests. Our goal is to achieve a 100 percent pass rate.
The Eastrise Flight Booking Site
It always gets messy when a flying school grows – to much information to handle and with many instructors, it is easy to lose track of who is flight-instructing who, on which aircraft, and at what time. We are excited to announce the launch of the Eastrise online flight-booking site. With this portal in place, all training flights at Eastrise are booked through it thus helping us and our students to keep track of training schedules. This is another complementary service which comes free of charge to our students. We have a blog post that discusses the online booking site and would love that you take time to read it.
Before you go…
We are always looking for opportunities to improve our services and to give our students the best learning experience possible. If you have an idea, feel free to share it with us. We will be more than happy to look at it!
