The purpose of the CPL Air Law module is to ensure that student commercial pilots understand the legal and regulatory framework governing aviation operations, so they can fly safely, professionally, and in compliance with national and international rules. This module prepares pilots to:
- Understand aviation legislation such as civil aviation acts, regulations, and licensing requirements.
- Apply rules of the air including right-of-way, cruising levels, and flight procedures.
- Interpret airspace regulations and operate correctly in controlled, uncontrolled, restricted, and prohibited airspace.
- Comply with operational requirements such as flight documentation, aircraft certification, and crew responsibilities.
- Use legal knowledge in decision-making during commercial operations, passenger transport, and cross-border flights.
- Promote safety and professionalism by understanding responsibilities, offences, penalties, and reporting requirements.
For a Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) student, Air Law is especially important because commercial flying carries greater responsibility for passengers, cargo, employers, and the public. It ensures pilots not only know how to fly, but also how to operate lawfully and responsibly.
ASSESSMENT
Students are assessed via end of section and end of module exams from our own CPL Air Law question bank. These are automatically marked by our Learning Management System and provide instant results to the student.
Just as all flight schools, we only provide the theory. Students are required to take official exams at the Civil Aviation Authority upon completion of the course and payment of the prescribed examination fee.
