The primary purpose of the Radio Navigation module in the Commercial Pilot License (CPL) syllabus is to teach pilots how to determine an aircraft’s position, track, and distance using electronic and satellite-based aids.
This module shifts the focus from visual navigation (pilotage) to electronic navigation, which is essential when flying in poor visibility, at night, or in complex airspaces where ground references are unavailable.
This module is a core theoretical requirement for both CPL and ATPL (Airline Transport Pilot License) levels, as it forms the technical foundation for safe and efficient commercial flight operations.
